Resources

But where shall wisdom be found? . . . Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living. . . It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed [for] the price thereof. It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire. The gold and the crystal cannot equal it: and the exchange of it [shall not be for] jewels of fine gold. No mention shall be made of coral, or of pearls: for the price of wisdom [is] above rubies. The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure gold. Whence then cometh wisdom? . . ." (Job 28:12-20)

The Most Excellent Resource!

During the Friday break at the Anger Resolution Seminar, I had no money - I was simply "window shopping." As I was looking, a friend pointed out to me a price markdown on the biography set of George Muller.

Biographies are the one thing on my prayer/wish list of the new school resources for the year. Yet, my personal commitment this year was to be grateful for everything, no matter how hard or lean the circumstances may appear.

I was so grateful to be attending the seminar! Yet, standing at the book tables, looking at all those wonderful resources and knowing I had not one dollar to spend, filled me with a deep sadness.

So that no one would see my tears, I hurriedly left the room and moved out into the big hall and stood by myself. There I silently cried, and cried out to God.

I told Him how much I desired to see my children become mighty in God's Spirit, how much I wanted to see them fulfill all that He has planned for them, how much I wanted to inspire them to go out into all the world and serve Him. I told Him that I knew He loved them even more than I do, and He surely knew how limited my resources were. I reminded Him that I was not asking for just any old mediocre materials, but for only the best books and resources that would give them a Godly vision with the highest ideals.

With a heart close to bursting, I cried out that I was asking for only the "most excellent" resources.

Then my Savior touched me on the shoulder and whispered, "I AM the Most Excellent Resource."

It was as though He was reminding me, "You want to give them the most excellent preparation and education? I AM the Truth . . . If no other books were available, My Word would still be enough. You want to see them grow mighty in the Spirit and fulfill the Great Commission? I AM the Life . . . But they must see ME in you. Give them Myself, through your life. Everything else will be icing on the cake. And you know that you can trust Me to provide the funds whenever I want you to use some additional resource. Trust Me, . . . and give Me your children. I AM the Most Excellent Resource."

A timely reminder of how much more I need to know Him, . . . so that I can be prepared to teach my children from the Most Excellent Resource in the world.

The above letter was sent in to Bill Gothard's Advanced Training Institute by a mother who has truly learned the value of Christ, not only for herself, but also for her children. Grateful acknowledgement is made of the Institute for Basic Life Principles which has graciously granted permission for its use.
